  简介:

Anyons are particles that have neither bosonic nor fermionic ?statistics. They have fractional statistics. They were first proposed ?to exist in a 2+1D world in 1977 as a theoretical fantasy. It was ?later realized that anyons do exist in nature, such as 2+1D gapped ?many-body systems with fractional quantum Hall effects. The underlying ?mathematical structure of the anyon theory is intricate and is ?believed to be a topological quantum field theory, which can be ?rephrased into math terms as a certain tensor category theory. It has ?been a lingering question on what the physical mechanism is for such ?an effective theory to emerge from a many-body system. In other words, ?why does nature like anyons? In this talk, we describe recent progress ?in deriving the anyon theory from an entanglement area law of a ?representative ground state wave function. More broadly, the research ?program, entanglement bootstrap, also allows us to generalize the idea ?and technique to broader physical contexts such as higher dimensional ?gapped systems and beyond.
