简介: |
Abstract: There are currently worldwide efforts in using cold atoms in optical lattices to emulate many theoretical models in condensed matter physics. The success of those efforts will shine lights on many unsolved problems that involve strong correlations among electrons, i.e., high temperature superconductivity. However, there are also great challenges to achieve these goals. The first challenge is that the atoms must be cooled down to extremely low temperatures that are far beyond what can be achieved in laboratories today. Another challenge comes from the coexistence of many different states in the same confining potential of the atoms, which complicates the studies of the properties of each single state. In this talk, I will discuss how to overcome above difficulties and study the physics in strongly correlated regions in optical lattices. |
