  简介:
报告摘要:
Rapid progress of materials science down to atomic scale necessitated a firm theoretical bases supporting interpretation and analyses of novel experimental data. In this talk, I would introduce theoretical simulation methods for scanning probe microscopy (SPM) as well as electron transport through molecular junctions. For the case of Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM), some recent topics are introduced including AFM images of deformable objects, a fast simulation method for protein molecules, oscillatory force field around nano-scale samples in aqueous environment, and control of the fluorescence of GFP by the AFM tip. The present status of the versatile theoretical SPM simulators project will be introduced.
The molecular bridges connecting the metal electrodes are prototype of single molecular devices. Discussions will be made for several fundamental issues concerning on the electron transport such as the relative energy level position of the highest molecular orbital (HOMO) or lowest unoccupied orbital (LUMO) to Fermi levels of the electrodes, as well as the competition of coherent vs incoherent electron transmission mechanism. In particular, exotic coherent quantum transport phenomena will be introduced.
