学术报告

Abstract: Automotive catalytic converters are required by US legislations to last vehicle lifetime, therefore their aging and poisoning during real world usage must be understood for converter design. This talk will cover three-way catalysts and lean NOx catalysts. Three-way catalysts are widely used for stoichiometric gasoline engines, whereas lean NOx catalysts (NOx storage catalysts and NH3 SCR catalysts) are developed for diesel and lean gasoline engines. Their aging and poisoning mechanism will be discussed.

报告人简介:Dr. Li Wei is a staff research engineer in the catalyst systems and technology group at GM R&D Center. He received a bachelors degree in Chemical Physics from the University of Science and Technology of China, and the master degree from Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics. In 1992 he received a fellowship from British Council and became a visiting student at Hall University, England. Afterwards he moved to US to pursue graduate study in Chemical Engineering Department at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech). After receiving his Ph. D. in 1998, he joined the group of Prof. Enrique Iglesia at UC-Berkeley as a postdoc, where he developed and characterized zeolite catalysts for hydrodesulfurization reaction with kinetic coupling. He joined GM R&D Center in 2000. His research interests cover a broad spectrum of automotive-related area with focus on emission control catalyst technologies.  Since he joined GM, he has been involved in projects on fuel reforming reactors, fuel cell catalysts, three-way catalysts, and more recently lean NOx catalysts.
