Even though MRI was invented some 35 years ago, it is continuing to advance both technically and scientifically. While MRI was mainly used for anatomic imaging in its early days, it is now being used for a multitude of applications, including physiological, molecular, cellular and functional imaging. This talk will provide an overview of these state-of-the-art aspects MRI, illustrated by examples with an emphasis on work from my own lab. In addition, I will also provide a brief description of the structure, organization and activities of our imaging centers at Emory University/Georgia Tech to illustrate how interdisciplinary efforts in imaging can be carried out and facilitated. |
