报告摘要:

Major accelerators projects are normally funded in National Research Laboratories. These projects have produced great advancements in high-energy-nuclear physics, condensed matter physics, bio-medical sciences, and material science. However, accelerator physics and technology R&D have traditionally been developed in Universities. I will describe some accelerator physics R&D and student training at Indiana University in past two decades. With successful completion of accelerator projects by the Tsinghua University, opportunities are abound in accelerator physics and technology research.

(c) Fellow of American Physical Society 1997, For important and creative contributions in both beam theory and experiments; in particular on the stability of beams with nonlinear perturbations, on the compensation of depolarizing resonances, and on the experimental study of complex beam phenomena.
