EEE Follow Cornell大学计算机系童朗教授清华学生见面会

清华大学与cornell大学签署了战略合作协议,双方将在交换教师和学生,合作研究等方面开展合作,每年还将召开2次workshop。2005年11月17-18日,第一届清华-Cornell workshop将在清华召开,cornell大学校长,工学院和计算机系的9位教授将访问我校,展开一系列学术交流活动。

Cornell大学计算机系童朗教授将在11月18日下午2:00-5:00在FIT 1-101与清华的学生面对面,主要内容包括:

-如何进行研究工作
-申请Cornell大学计算机系的有关问题答疑

欢迎信息学院有意出国深造的本科生和研究生参加。对于我校的博士生、硕士生来说,也是一个很好的学习机会。

Biography

Lang Tong joined Cornell University in 1998 where he is now a Professor.  Prior to joining Cornell University, he was on faculty at the West Virginia University and the University of Connecticut. He was also the 2001 Cor Wit Visiting Professor at the Delft University of Technology.  He received the B.E. degree from Tsinghua University, Beijing, P.R. China in 1985, and PhD degree in EE from the University of Notre Dame, Notre Dame, Indiana in 1991. He was a  Postdoctoral Research Affiliate at the Information Systems Laboratory, Stanford University in 1991.

Lang Tong is a Fellow of IEEE. He received the Outstanding Young Author Award from the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society, the 2004 best paper award (with Min Dong) from IEEE Signal Processing Society, and the 2004 Leonard G. Abraham Prize Paper Award from the IEEE Communications Society (with Parvathinathan Venkitasubramaniam and Srihari Adireddy). He also received Young Investigator Award from the Office of Naval Research.

Professor Tong's research is in the general area of statistical signal processing, communication systems, and networks. Using theories and tools from statistical inferences, stochastic processes, and information theory, his research group is investigating various practical problems that arise from broadband wireless systems, mobile ad hoc networks, and large-scale sensor networks.
