Abstract
This presentation is concerned with stress analysis of finite piezoelectric cylinders and some related problems. An analytical general solution is first derived for the relevant governing equations for linear piezoelectricity. The coupled electromechanical field of a cylinder under basic loading is studied for different piezoelectric materials and cylinder aspect ratios. The case of a cylinder under voltage loading is examined for flexible and rigid electrodes. The analytical solution is thereafter applied to study the effective properties of 1-3 piezo-composites. The dependence of effective hydrostatic piezoelectric and voltage coefficients on volume fraction of piezoelectric phase is examined for different piezoelectric materials.
