  简介:

The Stabilization Method of Computing Resonance and Other Scattering Quantities

It is shown how to obtain resonant parameters of short lived localized species as well as scattering cross sections using a method that simply diagonalizes the Hamiltonian of the system repetitively in ever larger enclosures.  Resonance energies and lifetimes can be extracted without knowledge of boundary conditions.  The enclosures can actually exist or can be modeled by varying the scales and/or the size of bases sets or when appropriate by varying the strength of fields that localize the system.  The method has enjoyed successful application in atomic molecular and optical physics, solid state and device physics, and nuclear physics and has been used to obtain the energies of resonance states in molecules approaching “biological size.”
