Intro:

The book that is presented dealing with how modern universities increasingly are socially embedded in wider global environments of social and cultural character, leading to increasing and systematic use of reputation symbols and changing organizational features. The first part of the book is about how universities in China, Nordic countries and US are using reputation symbols, as seen from their websites, while the second part is about how US universities are changing their university organization, more specifically establishing development, diversity and judicial units; a development that is also increasingly happening in the rest of the world.

Speaker Biography:

Tom Christensen is Professor of Public Administration and Policy, Department of Political Science, University of Oslo. He is also Senior Researcher at the Rokkan Uni Research Center, University of Bergen and the Thousand Talents Visiting Professor at School of Public Administration and Policy, Renmin University. Christensen is doing research on central civil service and comparative public sector reform and is one of the most productive researchers in this field in the world. His research, based on organization theory, covers fields like higher education, emergency management, welfare administration, immigration governance, etc.
