  简介:
Neural prostheses are a series of devices that can substitute motor, sensory or cognitive modalities that might have been damaged as a result of injuries or diseases. Benefiting from the fast development of the semiconductor industry over past decades, various electronic devices have been researched and developed, interfacing with existing neural systems, to restore vision, hearing, and other types of functionalities. In this talk, recent progresses towards a fully implantable retinal prosthetic device to restore vision for the blind people will be discussed. Clinical trials have proven the great promises of the efficacy of the electronic retina. However, grand challenges remain ahead.
