Dr. Xuegang (Jeff) Ban is an Assistant Professor at the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI). He received his B.S. and M.S. in Automobile Engineering from Tsinghua University, and his M.S. in Computer Sciences and PhD in Transportation Engineering from the University of Wisconsin at Madison.
His research interests are in Transportation Network Modeling and Simulation, Urban Traffic Modeling and Operations, and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). Dr. Ban has published about 30 papers in refereed journals or as book chapters, and nearly 30 papers in conference proceedings. He is an Associate Editor of Networks and Spatial Economics, and serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Intelligent Transportation Systems. Dr. Ban is a member of the Network Modeling Committee (ADB30) of the Transportation Research Board (TRB) under the National Academies, and the Elected Cluster Chair of the ITS SIG of the Transportation Science and Logistics (TSL) Society under Institute for Operations Research and the Management Science (INFORMS). He is an recipient of the 2011 CAREER award from the National Science Foundation (NSF). Dr. Ban’s research has been sponsored by the National Science Foundation (NSF), US Department of Transportation (USDOT), and other federal and state funding agencies. Since joining RPI in 2008, he has attracted research funding for nearly $2 million. |
