讲座简介：

    The diurnal cycle and seasonal cycle are two fundamental periodic phenomena in the weather-climate system. The importance of seasonal cycle in climate studies is well known and has been fully addressed. However, the role of diurnal cycle in development of climate signals has not been fully studied. Here, we show the critical role of recovering an accurate diurnal cycle for coupled model reanalysis, addressing the importance of diurnal cycle in climate signal development. Issues in oceanic observations and challenges in ocean data assimilation are discussed.
