  简介:

In this talk I will present our electron transport measurement on nanotube quantum dots (NT-Qdot) in a magnetic field parallel to the nanotube axis.  The NT-Qdots exhibit four-fold shell structure in the energy level spectrum.  The magnetic field induces a large splitting between the two orbital states in each shell, an effect which was predicted long time ago but was only recently demonstrated experimentally.  As a result we could tune spin-polarized states into orbital degeneracy which enables the observation of a purely orbital Kondo effect.  When the orbital and spin degeneracies are simultaneously present, we observed a strongly enhanced Kondo effect, with a multiple splitting of the Kondo resonance at finite field and predicted to obey a so-called SU(4) symmetry.

JingKong received the MS. Degree from Peking University in 1996. In the same year she began to pursue the Ph.D. degree in Stanford University under the guidance of Prof. Hongjie Dai. She got the Ph.D. degree in 2000. After graduation, she became a postdoctoral researcher in Prof. Dekker’ group in Delft University of Technology, the Netherlands. From 2003, she has been an assistant professor at the dept. EECS, MIT. She is a very active research in nanoscience, in particular nanosensors and nanoelectronics. She has published large numbers of peer-reviewed papers on high reputation journals, including 5 papers on Science and Nature.
