CLIC (Compact Linear Collider) is a highly developed concept, design and hardware study for a linear collider capable of delivering e+e- physics in the energy range of 0.3 to 3 TeV. The major features of the concept, important performance demonstrations and future directions for the project are reviewed.
报告人简历:
Walter Wuensch made his undergraduate studies at Caltech and his graduate studies at the University of Rochester. His PhD thesis was an experimental search for dark matter galactic axions, supervised by Adrian Melissinos.
After graduating at the end of 1988, he started as a fellow (post-doc) at CERN and have been there ever since. His initial work was on accelerating structures for CLIC and this has remained a consistent theme for him over all these years. More recently he has taken responsibility for the full R&D program for the CLIC X-band rf system and taken a major role in the management of the project. The work has recently reached important milestones with successful demonstration of all major performance goals, highlighted by prototype accelerating structures running with gradients in excess of 100 MV/m. His new priorities are to find new applications for CLIC developments and to deepen our understanding of high-power phenomena. |
