简介:Abstract

Bubble dynamics in elastic solids is important to understand the mechanics of ultrasound generated lesions, tissue ablation and fragmentation. The main difference between liquids and elastic solids is the restoring force that affects bubble dynamics but also provides means of transverse wave propagation. I will discuss the generation of stress waves from non-spherical bubble dynamics. Yet, it is also possible to generate cavitation from transverse waves in a solid. That intriguing phenomena allows to create on demand and microscopically extreme tension in liquids near a solid interface.

 

 

报告人介绍Brief Biography

Claus-Dieter Ohl (PhD Physics, U Göttingen, 1998) works experimentally on fundamental and applied fluid mechanics. He is interested in fast multiphase flows such as laser induced cavitation, sonoluminescence, shock waves in liquids and their medical applications, droplet fragmentation and recently a novel boiling regime. After a two postdoc positions at Johns Hopkins (Prof Prosperetti) and U Twente (Prof Lohse) he received the Dutch VIDI fellowship 2005 to focus on application of cavitation for drug delivery. In 2007 he joined Nanyang Technological University in Singapore and was tenured in 2012. During the 10 years at NTU his lab made important contributions to cavitation in microfluidics and soft materials, time-reversal acoustics, focused photoacoustics, and nanofluidics. In 2017 he was appointed as full Professor at the University of Magdeburg in Germany and is now setting up their Soft Matter department. In his spare time he explores how to make use of virtual reality for education.
