Excellence in Undergraduate Education
主讲人:George Breslauer, 伯克利加州大学常务副校长兼教务长
时 间:5月26日(星期一)上午9:00-10:00
地 点:主楼接待厅
Professor Breslauer will discuss innovations Berkeley has adopted over the past several decades to maximize the educational experience of its 24,000 undergraduate students. The primary goal is to ensure that students do not experience education as merely a matter of mastering factual, introductory material in many disciplines. This is a starting point, but it is not the end-goal of a university education. The innovations that Berkeley has adopted to enhance the undergraduate educational experience are all geared, by one means or another, toward engaging the imagination and creativity of educated young people and inspiring them to be critical thinkers who learn by engaging the material, not just by emulating their teachers. He will also share background on the California Master Plan which was developed decades ago to guide the expansion and transformation of public higher education in California during a time when the state was starting to grow rapidly in population.
