土木水利学院建设管理系  学术报告

Dr Foliente is Senior Principal Research Scientist and Stream Leader in the Urban Systems Program at CSIRO Sustainable Ecosystems in Melbourne, Australia. He received his PhD at Virginia Tech in the USA, worked as a researcher at the University of California in Berkeley, and had appointments at esteemed international scientific/technical committees and overseas research institutions. Considered as one of the world’s leading experts in the performance approach in Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC), Greg has received a number of prestigious international research and fellowship awards, including the 2003 James Croes Medal from the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). He has a very extensive technical publications record and has been an invited speaker in meetings, workshops and conferences in Australia and around the world. He is currently the Coordinator of CIBW60 (Performance Concept in Building & Construction), the program director of the Performance Based Building Networks in Australia and the Asia-Pacific region, and the co-chair of the 2008 World Sustainable Building Conference (SB08 Melbourne).

内容简介:
Most technical building professionals are focused on technological innovations to improve building performance. While this is indeed an important and necessary condition for innovative outcomes, this is not sufficient. It is argued that a serious consideration of processes and relationships in a project, especially at the earliest phases of planning and design, and the right decisions at critical stages of the project maximise beneficial outcomes for all stakeholders. An Australian study of ‘excellent projects’ confirm this. This presentation details the key issues and decisions on the critical early phases of the project ? including procurement strategies, planning and facilitating charrettes, setting project goals and performance requirements, developing holistic design concepts and team working processes. Process innovations continue through the operations and management phase of the building, when it is most important that owners, facility managers and tenants (or building users) understand and support the concept of high-performing buildings and act accordingly. In addition to resource use savings, improved workplace productivity will provide substantial benefits to all stakeholders.
