This work is based on a high level model that predicts Chinese energy use by
sector and fuel type and corresponding oil import requirements and carbon
emissions. The author will discuss many of the basic assumptions in the
model and to gather feedback with an overall goal of improving the model and
its ability to predict Chinese energy requirements. The results of this
model will be compared to the predictions of the International Energy
Agency. Additional scenarios will be generated with input from those in
attendance. The model also includes an emission permit trading module which
forecasts potential costs or revenues for regions engaged in allowance
trading.
