Biography:

Botaro Hirosaki received his BS and MSE degrees from the University of Tokyo in 1970 and Princeton University in 1978, respectively. He joined Central Research Laboratories of NEC Corporation and had been involved in the development of high speed and broadband communications systems. In 1984, he developed the world’s first commercial product of OFDM data transmission systems with which he was awarded a Doctoral degree from the University of Tokyo in 1986. From 2000 to 2008, he was involved in the telecom networking business operation, intellectual asset management and R&D management in NEC. He is currently the Senior Executive Vice President and Board Member of NEC. Dr. Hirosaki is the Fellow Member of both IEEE and IEICE, and is the Vice Chair of the Technical Committee in Bureau of Industrial Advisory Committee for OECD.
