  简介:

Abstract:

We shall describe recent work developing a high-level approach to quantum information and computation, from a Computer Science perspective. We shall aim to make the talk reasonably self-contained, and prior knowledge of quantum mechanics will not be assumed. Some startling new perspectives on information and computation have been opened up over the past two decades by the development of Quantum Information and Computation: taking seriously the fact that 'Information is Physical', i.e. that information processing devices are embodied as physical systems, of an ultimately quantum-mechanical nature. We shall show how methods and concepts from Computer Science can be used to recast the formalism of Quantum Mechanics itself in an elegant and conceptual form, well suited to the needs of Quantum Information; and how this can be applied very effectively to the description and analysis of quantum information protocols. This opens up the field of Quantum Information and Computation to the kind of high-level, compositional methods which have proved so important in classical Computer Science. Moreover, the formalism can be presented in a visually appealing and intuitive diagrammatic form, which lends itself to effective tool support. There are promising applications to the analysis of non-locality, multipartite entanglement and measurement-based quantum computation.
