Takuya Hasegawa, Ph.D.

Dr. Takuya Hasegawa is managing a R&D team in Nissan Research Center for Non-automotive Fuel Cell Activities based on his rotary production Fuel Cell Technologies since early 2015. Before he joined with Nissan Motor in mid 2006, he had worked with Asahi Kasei. He was one of the founders of the 1993 new separator project. He is also teaching disruptive innovation in his 2 Global MBA courses (Japanese Management, Japanese Production and Supply Chain Management) at Hosei Business School of Innovation Management since late 2015.

Fuel cell vehicle diffusion  scenario: A perspective from MOT

Abstract:

Despite of all the efforts in Japan, the diffusion of fuel cell vehicle has stagnated for a long time. The aim of this talk is to discuss the reasons and prospects so that a fuel cell diffusion scenario with economic rationality can be drawn. First, we discussed the difference between "Chicken and Eggs" and "Chicken and Food" and clarify the importance of business ecosystem which has been defined by J.A. Schumpeter in 1912. Second, important differences in variable costs, material costs and actual material costs are discussed to pave a road to the rotary poduction of fuel cells / water electrolyzers. Finally, "Social implementation: How can we bring a Lunar base to the Sahara desert?" is discussed.
