  简介:

Abstract:
Our research in the scanning electron microscope (SEM) laboratory involves the methods of electron backscattered diffraction (EBSD) and transmission Kikuchi diffraction (TKD). These will be presented in relation to materials crystallographic characterization and applications. The research refers to superconductors, semiconductors, insulators and metallic compounds in form of nano-scale structures, thin films and bulk materials. The presentation provides an insight on the role of EBSD and TKD methods for materials characterization with emphasize on bridging between X-ray and TEM diffraction methods in terms of resolution and sample compatibility.
In particular, the results include studying of preferred texture growth for Cerium-doped WO3 superconductor bulk crystals relative to undoped WO3, texture analysis of silicon nanowires and nanodots as well as the unique nano-scale geometry of X-ray irradiated Barium Titanate samples. Particular examples of indented silicon samples are discussed as well as samples under in-situ tensile deformation.

Bio:
Zahava Barkay received the Ph.D. degree in Physics, from Tel-Aviv University, in 1994. At 1995 she joined the Wolfson Applied Materials Research Center (WAMRC) and since then leading the field of scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Dr. Barkay lectures the SEM course at the Engineering department at Tel-Aviv University and is at the board of the Israel Society of Microscopy. She holds more than 155 publications including 96 pre-reviewed journals and book chapters.
