演讲人简介：Prof. Mel Stewart，美国贝塞尔大学（Bethel University）哲学系荣休教授，曾先后在北京大学、武汉大学、复旦大学、山东大学等校哲学系讲学。
内容简介：“Que cera cera, whatever will be will be, the future and I will be,” is a line from a popular  song when I was young. Determinism is the theme of the song. Determinism seems to have enjoyed center stage way back in history…even strong  determinism. In book X of Plato's the Republic, when talking about choices made by disembodied  spirits in the intermediate state between being disembodied and embodied，it is stated that once choices are made they could not be reversed...We have traversed a lot of terrain in the history of ideas, more particularly those relating to various concepts, quantum physics, and free choices. What view you espouse issues I think from your own personal convictions. This has an attempt to see how issues can be viewed as coherent and perhaps even complementary. Hopefully, this exercise will help you in the formation of convictions that will be of use to you as you put together your own Weltanschauung.
