Song-Zhu CHU: Song-Zhu CHU (Japanese name: Shochiku KURE) is a full associate professor in the Department of Chemistry and Bioengineering of Iwate University in Morioka, Japan. She earned her B. E. degree in Qiqihaer Light Industrial University (1982, China), M. E. degree in Northeastern University (1988, China), and Ph. D degree in Hokkaido University (2000, Japan). Her research interest covers a variety of functional surface engineering fields of materials such as anodizing, electro-plating, electroless plating, sol-gel coating, conversion, and laser irradiation for high performance photo-catalysis, ultra-density magnetic recording media, catalytic electrodes for hydrogen production, corrosion and wear resistance, micro-/nano-fabrication, etc. Recently, her research focuses on the fabrication of versatile functional nanomaterials to for automotive electronic/electrical components, LED devices, electrode materials for LIBs and DEFCs. She was awarded by Ceramics Society of Japan in 2003, Copper Society of Japan in 2009, and Surface Finishing Technology Society of Japan in 2013. She is the coauthor of more than 50 journal articles and the regular reviewer of 22 English journals, and holds 14 Japan patents (7 issued) on fabrication of functional nanomaterials.
