Correlated Bosons in Semiconducting Moiré Superlattices

A panoply of unconventional electronic states has recently been observed in moiré superlattices. On the other hand, similar opportunities for bosons remain largely unexplored. In this talk, I will discuss the emerging opportunities to engineer exotic bosonic phases in semiconducting moiré superlattices through excitons, i.e., tightly bound electron-hole pairs.By developing a novel pump probe spectroscopy that measures exciton compressibility, we directly identify a bosoniccorrelated insulator at exciton filling vex = 1, and a mixed correlated insulator upon further electron doping. I will also briefly discuss other potentialcorrelated phases in this platform, such as spontaneous valleyorders of excitons.

报告人简介:

金辰皓,加州大学圣芭芭拉分校助理教授。2012年于北京大学获物理学士学位,2017年于加州大学伯克利分校获物理博士学位,20182020年任康奈尔大学卡佛里研究员。主要从事凝聚态实验的研究,用光学手段对低维材料以及异质结的物性进行探测。在对石墨烯,碳纳米管,黑磷,氮化硼,过渡金属硫化物及其形成的异质结中的摩尔物理和动力学做出了很多开创性的工作。研究成果发表于国际顶尖学术期刊,在Science, Nature, Nature Materials, Nature Physics, Nature Nano等杂志发表论文30余篇。论文总引用8600余次。
