Abstract: I will explain how to use anti-de-Sitter space (AdS) to study mass gaps in quantum field theories. Changing the size of AdS is like changing the coupling strength. The gapped-gapless transitions of QFT in AdS manifest themselves as transitions in the boundary conformal field theories. By using two dimensional toy models, I will show that the emergence of singlet marginal operators is the key of the transitions.
