题 目:
THE GLOBAL PLAY OF MICROELECTRONICS:A FRUITFUL PLAYGROUND FOR ACADEMIC INSTITUTIONS
Microelectronics is strongly developing in the direction of what is called “more than Moore”. This area focuses on new IC functionalities obtained in relatively standard baseline processes.
Academic institutions with a strong history in a multidisciplinary approach to microelectronics can very successfully contribute to this emerging field. Some examples of the research at the Delft Institute of Microelectronics and Submicrontechnology (DIMES) will be given as well as examples of the mutual benefits of cooperation with industry.
Apart from having a multidisciplinary character microelectronics equally has a strong global character. As academic institutes play a key role in creating the industrial and scientific leaders of tomorrow global cooperation between universities and institutes is a must. The existing cooperation between the Netherlands and China in microelectronics will be outlined and plans for a further intensification will be presented. |
