概要 I review our recent works on the visualization of diffusional pathway of mobile ions and chemical bonding in ceramic materials through neutron and synchrotron powder diffraction experiments.Ionic conducting ceramic materials and photocatalyst are keys of clean energy. For the ion-diffusion mechanism it is important to investigate the geometry of oxide-ion diffusion in the crystal lattice. I present the experimental visualization of ion diffusion pathway in various ionic-conducting ceramic materials. I also present the crystal structure and chemical bonding in photocatalysts and ferroelectric materials.
プロフィール Prof. Dr. Masatomo Yashima has been a full professor in the Department of Chemistry and Materials Science at the Tokyo Institute of Technology, from April 2011 to the present. He is the department head from April 2014 for one year. Prof. Yashima received a B.S. in Physics from Tsukuba University in 1986 and obtained a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from the Tokyo Institute of Technology in 1991. He was a Research Associate of Titechfrom 1991-1997 and an Associate Professor of Titechfrom 1997 to March 2011. His current research interests:Precise crystal structure analysis with high-temperature neutron and synchrotron powder diffraction, electron/nuclear density analysis and design/preparationof novel inorganic crystalline materials (ionic conductors, catalysts, ferroelectrics, photocatalysts, and biomaterials). He published over 500 papers, including over 191 original research papers (cited over 5530 times; h-index = 42). He received seventeen awards including the Award of the Ceramic Society of Japan (2009), the Award of the Crystallographic Society of Japan (2008). He is a member of International Center for Diffraction Data.
