简介:Abstract

While cavitation bubble dynamics close to surfaces has been studied ?in great detail, the dynamics of bubbles enclosed by two surfaces, ?i.e. in a thin gap, has received lesser attention. The interesting ?property of the bubble dynamics is that the bubble translates and ?collapses not necessarily to the closest surface. This allows to ?direct the kinetic fluid energy away from where the bubble is ?generated. We’ll present experiments, simulations, and applications of ?this phenomenon. Additionally we’ll study the possibility to direct a ?cavitation bubble away from a rigid boundary. This is accomplished ?with micro-textured surfaces. This may provide a novel method to ?mitigate cavitation erosion.

报告人介绍:Brief Biography

Claus-Dieter Ohl (PhD Physics, U G?ttingen, 1998) works ?experimentally on fundamental and applied fluid mechanics. He is ?interested in fast multiphase flows such as laser induced cavitation, ?sonoluminescence, shock waves in liquids and their medical ?applications, droplet fragmentation and recently a novel boiling ?regime. After a two postdoc positions at Johns Hopkins (Prof ?Prosperetti) and U Twente (Prof Lohse) he received the Dutch VIDI ?fellowship 2005 to focus on application of cavitation for drug ?delivery. In 2007 he joined Nanyang Technological University in ?Singapore and was tenured in 2012. During the 10 years at NTU his lab ?made important contributions to cavitation in microfluidics and soft ?materials, time-reversal acoustics, focused photoacoustics, and ?nanofluidics. In 2017 he was appointed as full Professor at the ?University of Magdeburg in Germany and is now setting up their Soft ?Matter department. In his spare time he explores how to make use of ?virtual reality for education.
