  简介:

报告简介:

Topology describe the invariants during continuous deformation. In photonic crystal slab, the bound states in the continuum (BICs) -- a novel approach for trapping of light, are essentially topological defects, namely the integer windings of polarization directions in the momentum space. As a conserved quantity, the topological charge would last and continuously evolves with varying parameters, only if it drops out of the continuum, or annihilate with an opposite charge. The evolution of topological charge leads to a series of novel phenomena, which broadens the horizon of understanding BICs from topological point of view, as well as will boost the applications in many areas, such as on-chip lasers, sensors, and photonic integrations.

报告人简介:

Dr. Chao Peng received this Bachelor degree of Physics from Peking University, 2004; and PhD from Department of electronics, Peking University, 2009. After that, he worked as JSPS fellow in Kyoto University, Japan. Dr. Chao Peng joined School of EECS, Peking University in 2012, and became Associate Professor since 2014. His research interests include nano-photonics, non- Hermitian photonics, topological photonics and sensing applications.
