  简介:

Abstract: The Eden stochastic growth model has been used to study the propagation of epidemics, chemical reactions, forest fires, and tumor growth. It is found that the interior is compact and the boundary is fractal. The Eden cluster, however, is anisotropic due to the underlying lattice. We introduce stochastic off-lattice algorithms to mimic growth in both two and three dimensions. Extensions to mitosis and competition are discussed.

Vita:  C.Y. Wang obtained B.S. from Taiwan University and Ph.D. from M.I.T. He is now Prof. of Mathematics, Physiology and Mechanical Engineering at Michigan State University. Dr. Wang published about 350 papers in fluid, solid, and biomechanics, and wrote two books (Perturbation Theory, Exact Solutions for Buckling).
