SymTFT (symmetry topological field theory) is a novel abstract tool which contains a lot of global information of QFTs, including the global forms, generalized symmetries and dualities. The advantage of SymTFT is that one can learn much of a QFT without knowing its detailed Lagrangian or non-Lagrangian description. In this talk, I will present two classes of examples, where one can compute the SymTFTs from the geometric engineering approach in string theory/SCFTs. The first example is the AdS4/CFT3 setup in M-theory. The second example is the dimensional reduction of 6d (2,0) SCFTs on 4-manifolds. References: 2210.03703, 2305.09734 |
