Introduction to the speakers:

Professor Yong Yan is an alumnus of the Department of Automation of Tsinghua University. He is currently a Professor of Electronic Instrumentation and the Head of Embedded Systems and Instrumentation Research Group at the University of Kent, UK. He was previously a Professor of Instrumentation at the University of Greenwich, where he was also the founding Director of the Advanced Instrumentation and Control Research Centre. Professor Yan has published more than 170 research papers in academic journals and at international conferences. Over the past five years he has been awarded more than 20 research grants and contracts by external funding bodies and leading industrial organizations. In recognition of his outstanding contributions in the fields of sensors, instrumentation and measurement, Professor Yan was awarded the prestigious Achievement Medal by the Institution of Electrical Engineers, the largest professional institution in Europe, in 2003.
