Ames is a professor of civil and environmental engineering at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, USA where his work in the Hydroinformatics Research Group includes open source geographic information systems (GIS), hydrological modelling, time series data management and visualization in environmental science.

研究方向:He is the Editor-in-Chief of Environmental Modelling & Software and is currently President of the International Environmental Modelling & Software Society (iEMSs).
