Digital Education or Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) plays an important role in supporting and mediating educational activities through digital and online technology. Blended, online, immersive, and simulated learning environments can stimulate, enhance, and amplify interactive and participative learning. Pedagogically-sound learning technologies can be highly effective if delivered appropriately and to a high standard, with participating learners deriving high levels of satisfaction. However, educators may struggle with the available educational technologies, not just with the technical details, but also understanding when and how best to use them, as well as the underpinning educational principles that support their use. Equally, institutions face challenges in terms of adoption and engagement, as well as critical decisions regarding costs and return on investment. This talk will briefly introduce a range of education technologies and relevant educational frameworks, followed by sharing the Duke-NUS approach and experience so far.
