Because of historic reasons, Canada has a very unique legal system where Common Law and Civil Law cohabitate. Certain fields of law, like criminal law, are solely British Common Law based, whereas in other fields, like property, marriage or contract law, the French Civil Law model is also used. This situation raises a large number of legal issues with which courts, at different levels, have to deal with on a daily basis.
China’s modern legal system is also somewhat inspired from both Common Law and Civil Law systems. This situation might also give rise to certain problems in the future. Consequently, can the Canadian model be an example of harmonious cohabitation of both legal systems for
