简介: |
Dr. Hansong Cheng obtained a bachelor degree in chemistry from Wuhan University in 1982 and subsequently did his MS work in theoretical chemistry at Jilin University under Prof. Auching Tang. He received his Ph.D degree in theoretical chemistry from Princeton University in 1991 under the advice of Prof. Herschel Rabitz. He joined Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. in the same year as a senior scientist. He has developed and applied efficient computational methods for design and development of novel materials for a wide variety of applications such as hydrogen storage, hydrogen production, CO2 capture and semiconductor materials and devices. In 2004, together with scientists from National Renewable Energy Laboratory headed by Dr. M. Heben and from Rice University headed by the late Prof. R. Smalley, he became one of the founding members of the U.S. Department of Energy Hydrogen Sorption Center of Excellence and has served as a member of its Steering Committee ever since. The mission of the Center is to address major technical barriers to on-board hydrogen storage. He was a winner of National Corrosion Engineers Distinguished Company Award in 1997 for his work on materials and corrosion and has been a recipient of numerous technical awards from Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. He is an author/coauthor of over 100 publications and an inventor of 25 US patents and patent applications. He has also delivered over 65 invited lectures at professional conferences and in academic, government and industrial labs worldwide. |
