内容简介:Manufacturing is the process that transforms raw materials into a useful product. Everything, which is done at or for the factory floor operations, is viewed as manufacturing. Given machines and material handling devices, structuring a production system so that it operates as efficiently as the machines in isolation is one of the main problems in manufacturing, especially in large-volume manufacturing processes. To alleviate the mutual interference due to machine unreliability, achieve production objectives and meet customer demand, rigorous engineering methods for analysis, design and continuous improvement of production systems have been developed. These results lead to the fundamental laws of production systems, which are briefly overviewed in this talk.

 

Brief Biography:

Mr. Liang Zhang is a PhD candidate of Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, of the University of Michigan (supervised by Professor Semyon M. Meerkov, IEEE fellow). He received his BE and ME degree from Department of Automation, Tsinghua University, in 2002 and 2004, respectively. He was honored the Outstanding Graduate Student of Tsinghua in 2004 and his thesis of master degree was awarded as Outstanding Master Degree Thesis of Tsinghua.He has published over 20 articles in referred journals and proceedings and received Outstanding Paper Award of ICMLC’02 and Best Paper Award of Chinese Control and Decision Conference 2004. His research interests include performance evaluation and analysis of production systems.
