Abstract: Space-division multiplexing (SDM) in free-space and optical fiber communication system can increase capacity as well as spectral efficiency in a communication link. Research at USC about Orbital Angular Momentum (OAM) based SDM technique includes: 1) Terabit/s data transmission link in optical free-space and fiber link. 2) Networking functions of OAM based optical communication system. 3) Emulation and Compensation of atmospheric turbulence of optical OAM channels. 4) Multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) in free-space and fiber OAM communication links. 5) Millimeter-wave OAM communication link.
Other research areas in OCLab, such as all-optical signal processing, will be briefly mentioned.
