Oren Scherman graduated from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, with a B.A. in Chemistry in 1999. He then went on to complete a Ph.D. under the supervision of Professor Robert H. Grubbs at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) in Pasadena, California, in 2004. After finishing his Ph.D. in the area of olefin metathesis and controlled polymerization, he moved to the Netherlands to work on supramolecular polymers at the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), with Professors E.W. (Bert) Meijer and Rint P. Sijbesma. In 2006, he moved to Cambridge to take up his current position as a University Lecturer and Next Generation Fellow in the Melville Laboratory for Polymer Synthesis at the Department of Chemistry in Cambridge, where he and his group are interested in studying supramolecular polymers and composite materials and the dynamics of their assembly in an aqueous environment.
