       One of the important frontiers in computational neuroscience is to quantify and model neural processing during cognition. Our laboratory is developing new nonparametric statistical measures of dependence and causality that can be applied directly to data, in the spirit of Information Theoretic Learning.  This talk will address methodologies to quantify the dependence structure amongst brain areas. We are currently utilizing the ssVEP to improve the SNR of the EEG during cognitive tasks. We will show the importance of the preprocessor on the dependence measures and preliminary results obtained with the generalized measure of association to distinguish perception of faces versus images calibrated for brightness.
