简介: |
The topic of microfluidics encompasses various branches of chemical engineering, including fluid mechanics, materials, reaction and engineering biology.
In this talk, I will review common approaches for the controlled fabrication of monodisperse single and multiple emulsions using microfluidics. I will illustrate how these techniques can be used to generate functional structures, which include non-spherical particles, capsules, and vesicles. I will discuss challenges that have thus far limited further development of microfluidics into widespread industrial use. In particular, I will share our understanding of a novel branch of multiphase microfluidics. I will end the talk by exploring opportunities for applying these techniques to functional materials, bio-formulations and drug delivery. |
