  简介:
内容简介:
Space physics is the study of plasmas in the universe and primarily about the Sun-Earth system, which includes the Sun, solar wind, magnetospheres and ionosphere/thermosphere. These regions are different to each other and also highly interacted with each other. Through both observations and simulations, our understanding of our system has been improved significantly. The Sun-Earth system can strongly influence the performance and reliability of space-borne and ground-based technological systems and can endanger human life or health as well. The space weather is to understand the physics processes and to predict the conditions of the geospace environment. Some exciting researches about magnetosphere and ionosphere/thermosphere have been conducted at UTA.

主讲人简介:
Yue Deng is Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics at the University of Texas at Arlington, Texas USA. She received her BS and MS degrees at the Peking University in 1997 and 2001, respectively, and her PhD degree at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor in 2006. Her PhD thesis had won the Baldwin prize. She is the co-developer of the first global non-hydrostatic model in the upper atmosphere, Global Ionosphere Thermosphere Model (GITM). Her main research interest is the coupling between magnetosphere and ionosphere/thermosphere in the polar region. Dr. Deng was awarded the prestigious NSF CAREER award and several NSF fellowships.
