Greg Babinski is an expert in GIS needs assessment, organizational structure, enterprise business support, and operational management, as well as in engineering design and document management. Greg brings 39 years of experience working to bring technology solutions to business problems.

Greg is also active with professional organizations. He has been a member of the Geospatial Information Technology Association (GITA) and is a current member of GFOA (Government Finance Officers Association), AMA (American Marketing Association), and URISA (Urban and Regional Information Systems Association). He is the past president of URISA.

 

    The past 50 years we have witnessed the development of geospatial technology.  During that half century the Urban and Regional Information Systems Association (URISA) has played a significant and interesting role in conceiving of geospatial technology and then exploring was to apply that technology for society. This presentation will describe the connection between URISA and the development and worldwide proliferation of GIS for hundreds of application areas. The current activity of URISA will be described as celebrated during our fiftieth annual conference, GIS-Pro 2012. The future vision for geospatial technology and the role of URISA in supporting a worldwide, geospatially aware society will then be explored.
