  简介:
Short biography
Professor Chen is well-known internationally for his work in nanomaterials and nanotechnology.  His invention of a ball-milling and annealing method for the mass production of nanotubes and nanowires has made a significant impact on the emerging nanotube industry.  The ISI Web of Knowledge ranks Prof Chen in the top 10 authors in the research fields of “ball milling” and “BN nanotubes”.  The team he has put together is a world leader in nanomaterials production and commercialisation.  His current research is focused on  developing different synthetic methods (ball milling and annealing method, chemical/physical vapour deposition, and mechanical alloying) and new applications (energy storage in batteries, capacitors, solar cells and drug delivery) for a variety of nanomaterials including nanotubes (C and BN), nanowires, nanorods, nanoparticles, and nano thin films(graphene). Professor Chen is the Director of the Deakin node of the ARC Centre of Excellence in Functional Nanomaterials.  He graduated from Tsinghua University in Beijing in 1986, China and obtained his PhD degree from Univeraity Paris-Sud, France in 1992.  After spending 16 years at the Australian National University in Canberra, he joined Deakin University in 2009.  He has published 200 journal papers with 3200 citations and won several awards including ARC Australian Research Fellowships and a 1000 Talented Professorship from Chinese Government.  Prof Chen is a current panel member of College of Expert of Australian Research Council.
