Abstract Dynamic shadowing growth (DSG)isa simple nanofabrication technique that combines oblique angledeposition (OAD) with substrate manipulations and source controls in a physical vapor deposition system. The geometry shadowing effect is the dominant growth mechanism resulting in the formation of various nanostructure arrays by programming the substrate rotation in polar and/or azimuthal direction. With recent advance in a multilayer deposition procedure, one can design complex and multifunctional heterogeneous nanostructures. In addition, with a co-deposition system of two or more sources, novel nanocomposites or doped nanostructure arrayscan be produced, which results in nanostructures with different morphology and functionality. In this talk, we will highlight some of the recent progress in nanofabrication by DSG and its applications in nanomotor, biodetection, novel photocatalysts and battery anodes.
个人简历: Dr. Yiping Zhao received his B.S. degree in Electronics from PekingUniversity in 1991; and MS degree in condensed matter physics fromInstitute of Semiconductors, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1994. Hecompleted his Ph.D. degree in Physics at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institutein 1999. He is currently a Professor at the Department of Physics andAstronomy in University of Georgia. His major research interests arenanostructures and thin films fabrication and characterization, chemicaland biological sensors, hydrogen storage materials, novel photocatalysts,biomaterials, and nanomotors.
