 Prof. Saifur Rahman is the Joseph R. Loring professor of electrical and computer engineering and the founding director of the Advanced Research Institute at Virginia Tech. He is a Fellow of the IEEE and a distinguished lecturer of the Power & Energy Society. He served as the founding Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Transactions on Sustainable Energy from 2009 to 2012. He is the chair of the National Science Foundation (NSF) Advisory Committee on International Science and Engineering.
Saifur Rahman directs the Center for Energy and the Global Environment and the Consortium for Intelligent Grid Research at Virginia Tech.
He has served as the chair of the IEEE Publications Board, the Lifelong Learning Committee, Periodicals Committee and the Products and Services Committee. He is the founding editor-in-chief of the IEEE Electrifications Magazine.
He is currently serving as the vice president for Publications for the IEEE Power & Energy Society, and a member of the IEEE-USA Energy Policy Committee. He is an IEEE Millennium Medal winner.
