卡伦·法伊费，美国史密斯学院荣休教授，1981年在美利坚大学获得经济学博士学位，自1979年开始在史密斯学院经济系任教。
卡伦·法伊费教授的主要教学领域包括替代性经济理论、比较经济体制，科研领域主要集中于中东和北非的经济发展和社会变迁。 曾在阿尔及利亚，埃及，约旦，科威特，黎巴嫩，土耳其和巴勒斯坦进行调查研究。
她目前的学术研究侧重于经济学学科与中东研究，并运用积累的社会结构理论对一些中东经济体进行研究。
Karen Pfeifer earned her Ph.D. in economics from the American University in 1981. She has been professor of economics at Smith since 1979, served twice in the Smith College administration, and has been an editor of Research in Middle East Economics and of Middle East Report.
Pfeifer's main teaching fields include alternative economic theory and comparative economic systems, with research focused on economic development and social change in the Middle East and North Africa. She was named a Fulbright Senior Scholar twice, in 1993–94 and 2001–02, and has done research in Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Turkey and the Palestinian Territories.
Her current scholarly projects focus on the relation between the discipline of economics and Middle East area studies, and the application of the theory of social structures of accumulation to a subset of Middle Eastern economies.
