简介: |
All elements heavier than iron are currently produced inside the stars by neutron capture reactions. From the nuclear physic point of view, the most important quantity to be measured is the capture cross section, which is the key ingredient of the astrophysics models, which try to reproduce the observed abundance of the element in the universe. In this lectures, we will shown the scientific case and the measurements, both using the time of flight technique and the neutron activation. We will briefly describe the n_TOF facility at CERN and the new beam line (BELINA) developed at the Laboratori Nazionali di Legnaro of the Istituto Nazionale di Fisica nucleare, together with technical aspect ranging from the detectors to the beam line development and construction. The lecture will be focused on a possible application to the new facility under development at Tsinghua University. |
